Amazon is Hurting Your Business, Here's How...

 

Amazon is getting people use to receiving their packages faster and with great customer service. Amazon takes care of their customers. If you are unhappy with your purchase they make it easy for the customer to get a refund. Also, when you are using Amazon, you don't have to worry about driving your own traffic such as using an e-mail list or social media. Amazon will do that for you, if you pay for that option.

 

FBA - FULFILLMENT BY AMAZON

Some sellers use FBA to attract more business. When a buyer sees that you offer 2-day shipping from Amazon, it will make them want to buy more from you because they know it will come quickly. When you choose to do FBA it means that you will print, make or however you create your products and ship them to amazon warehouse. From there, they will store your products until someone purchases the 2 day shipping. They will automatically send out that product and alert you as well. 
 

I would not suggest that you do FBA if you are newer to selling online. If you don't know what your best sellers are or haven't figured out what you top products are and what is in demand. If you have been selling online for awhile, and have a Etsy shop, your own website and have been on Amazon for awhile, then I would suggest that you try FBA.

Customer Service

 Everyone knows that Amazon has great customer service. We as sellers don't see it as much as the buyers do. Amazon will favor the buyers in any dispute, they take care of their customers and make sure that their name is in good standing. With that being said, it is important that you keep that in mind with all of your shops, no matter what platform. You can't give people horrible customer service and then expect them to leave you a 5 star review. No matter what the situation is, you must act professional when responding to customers. Yes, there will be customers that will complain about anything and everything just to get something free. And then there are customers who are never happy no matter how much you try to accommodate them.

If you don't know how to respond to a customers complaint or issues, you can post your question in the private group and get other business owners opinion. If you are someone who rarely gets bad reviews or any complaints, then it could be harder for you to respond in a positive and professional way. If you don't try to at lease accommodate the buyer by having great customer service, quicker processing times, then don't expect to make it very long in business. If you keep up to date with what customers are expecting and what the bigger companies are offering, then you might have a chance in making it.

 

Processing Times

Just because Amazon offers 2-day shipping, doesn't mean that you have to as well. However, it is important to keep in mind that businesses, not just Amazon has got their customers use to receiving their package faster than most. With that being said, you have to at least offer a faster shipping method. You don't have to ship the next day, but give your buyer the option of a 1-3 day priority shipping. If you offer a 1-3 day priority shipping, make sure that they buyer knows that it isn't 1-3 days after they place the order, but 1-3 days after the order ships. 

I understand that some products take longer to create than others, so you may not be able to offer quicker shipping. Another thing to keep in mind is that the buyer doesn't care if you are backed up with orders and that their order will ship in 1-2 weeks. That is why I would recommend you offer some sort of faster shipping method. Let the buyers know that if they would like to have their order rushed, then they can pay for priority shipping. However if they don't select the priority shipping, that it will take 1-2 weeks for them to receive their package. 

Another thing to keep in mind is being able to create your products in a faster way. If you think that there is no way that you can make your products faster in order to offer priority shipping ,then your wrong. There is always a way that it can be done faster without loosing quality. Something like that doesn't come over night, do your research and see what you can do to make the process go by faster.
